How do you obtain a driving licence with a learner’s permit?
In our webinar, you’ll find detailed information on how to get your driving licence with a learner’s permit, but the checklist below is a great place to start!
1. Apply for the necessary permits
- The student applies for a driving licence at Ajovarma. Applications can be made either at an Ajovarma service point or online via the Traficom service.
- The instructor applies for a teaching licence. The instructor must be at least 25 years old and must have held a relevant driving licence for at least five years.
2. Complete the compulsory training at a driving school
- EAS training: 4 hours of theory training for learners applying for their first driving licence. To view the EAS training courses offered by Epic, select a branch here
- Risk Awareness Training: Includes 4 hours of theory and 4 hours of practical driving. The RTK course must be completed before the driving test. You can find the RTK courses offered by Epic by selecting a branch
3. Check the condition and equipment of the vehicle
- Fit a training pedal to the car. A common reason for a driving test being stopped is a poorly fitted training pedal, so it is worth taking care during installation to ensure safety.
- Attach the warning triangle to the rear of the car.
- We recommend using an additional mirror to ensure you can see blind spots.
4. Teaching and examinations
- Practise driving, gradually increasing the level of difficulty. It is important to build up a sense of achievement in manageable traffic situations right from the start, so that your confidence grows as your skills improve.
- Theory test: taken at an Ajovarma office. You can take the test no earlier than one month before your 18th birthday. An exception is made for those with a special age exemption, who may take the test at the age of 17.
- Driving test: Book an appointment at an Ajovarma service centre once you have passed the theory test and meet the requirements for taking the practical test
