Revamped simulator sessions – a new era in learning
A safe and effective way to learn
During the autumn of 2025, Epic Driving School upgraded the simulator network at its branches in collaboration with the Swedish company Tenstar Simulation AB.
Thanks to our upgraded simulator network, we can offer our customers an even better learning experience. Modern simulator technology is a safe way to practise driving and also offers the opportunity to hone your skills, whether in passenger cars, emergency vehicles or heavy goods vehicles 💪🏼
Clinically proven to be effective
A study conducted at the University of Turku has found that simulator-based training is of even higher quality than formal driving instruction, when the successful completion of a driving test is used as the benchmark.
The study focused on a statistical comparison of the performance in the driving test of learners who had practised driving on a simulator, compared with learners who had not undertaken driving practice on a simulator but had received only formal driving instruction. The simulators used in the study were Simescar simulators, developed jointly by Epic Autokoulu Oy and Simumak S.L. and designed for Nordic conditions.
A study has shown that there is a weak correlation between the amount of simulator training and the probability of passing the driving test, which is not statistically significant. The number of driving tests taken decreases as the amount of simulator training increases.
The Finnish driver training system is examination-based, with the examination providing a comprehensive assessment of a driver’s competence on the road. Research has shown, above all, that the use of simulators has no negative impact on learning outcomes and, consequently, on driving competence.
